This long lost 'filmi qawwali' made an appearance on the Sholay LP but was omitted from subsequent releases on cassettes and CDs until I believe the 2004 Universal Music India digipack (digipak) release of the Sholay OST and the 2005 "Back to Black" digitally remastered vinyl replica CD.
According to Anupama Chopra's book "Sholay, The Making of a Classic", this 'filmi qawwali' was done in the Bhopali style of Chaar Bhaand - "a composition sung by four groups, instead of the qawwali's traditional two, with the audience enjoying the exchange sitting in the middle." Truly when you listen to this track, the vocals shift channels and you feel as if you are in the middle of the mehfil and the singers are singing and debating back and forth around you.
