Chalte Chalte

An eternal classic, whenever I hear this song, much like the woman in the song, time seems to stand still for me, I stop what I'm doing and get lost in it.

Film: Pakeezah

Singers: Lata Mangeshkar
Lyrics: Kaifi Azmi
MD: Ghulam Mohammed

Chalte Chalte...
walking along...
Chalte Chalte...
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
just like that, I met someone
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte
walking along the roadside
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte
Wahin Tham Ke Reh Gayee Hai...
Wahin Tham Ke Reh Gayee Hai
Meri Raat Dhalte Dhalte
that is where my fading night came to a halt
Meri Raat Dhalte Dhalte

Jo Kahi Gayee Na Mujh Se...
Jo Kahi Gayee Na Mujh Se
what I could not bring myself to say
Woh Zamaana Keh Raha Hai
the world is saying
Woh Zamaana Keh Raha Hai
Ke Fasaana...
Ke Fasaana Ban Gayi Hai
Ke Fasaana Ban Gayi Hai
Meri Baat Chalte Chalte
these words about me have traveled and become a story
Meri Baat Chalte Chalte
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte

Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte
Chalte Chalte
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte
Chalte Chalte
Chalte Chalte
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha

Shabh-e-Intezaar Aakhir
Shabh-e-Intezaar Aakhir
Kabhi Hogi Mukhtasar Bhi
my waiting for the dawn must cease someday
Kabhi Hogi Mukhtasar Bhi
Yeh Chiraag...
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Mere Saath Jalte Jalte
burning alongside me, these lamps are burning out
Mere Saath Jalte Jalte
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Yeh Chiraag Bujh Rahe Hai
Mere Saath Jalte Jalte
Mere Saath Jalte Jalte
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Yun Hi Koi Mil Gaya Tha
Sar-e-Raah Chalte Chalte

I was never a big fan of this film. I prefer Muzaffar Ali's Umrao Jaan. But this song is just brilliant. Have you seen the original Inhi Logon Ne from the 50's? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4FLyUu0v-U

I love that one too, Rekha with Asha's voice, winning combination, an essential soundtrack for me. I didn't see the reason to make a new one with Aish. I don't recall seeing Pakeezah at all, I mean I'm pretty sure my parents watched it when I was very little, and I was most likely in the room, but "jab se hosh sambhale" I don't recall the film at all, I have seen the video OFC for my favorite songs. That is the case with the majority of soundtracks I listen to except for Amitabh films of the 70s and 80s, I've seen all those and like the OSTs because of the film, not the other way around. But often the picturization of a song ruins it for me, depending on the film, ofc. Thanks for that link! :)

I found the Meena Kumari album. Khayyam did the music! http://www.amazon.com/I-Write-Recite/dp/B001NXYQ9O/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1237069303&sr=8-1

Been a bit busy, so apologies for that.
